Camp Aftermath is a Canadian registered charity and a long-term, Veteran-led, peer-supported and clinically guided reintegration program built around identity, purpose, belonging, contribution and connection beyond service.
A role can change. The experience, capability and capacity to contribute that come with it do not disappear along with the uniform. Camp Aftermath exists to create structure, connection, contribution and continuity around what comes next.
Camp Aftermath was founded by Farid Yaghini, a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces. His own experience navigating life after service raised a broader question: what actually helps people reconnect with identity, purpose and community once a defining role changes.
That question grew into an idea, and in December 2016, the Aftermath Association was registered as a Canadian charity to carry it forward. What began as an idea has since developed into a structured, long-term program for Veterans, serving military members, first responders and frontline professionals.
Camp Aftermath has evolved through years of program delivery, participant feedback and professional guidance. What started as a single idea grew into a structured, three-phase model: Screening & Suitability, Residential Experience & Volunteerism, and Continuity & Accountability. A structured screening and suitability process helps determine whether Camp Aftermath is an appropriate fit and whether an applicant is at the right point in their journey for the program. For those moving forward, Phase 1 also begins preparation and connection, building familiarity, trust and readiness before the residential experience.
Structured volunteerism emerged as one of the program’s defining principles along the way, not as an afterthought, but as a core part of how participants reconnect with purpose and community.
Identity. Who someone is does not end when a role changes.
Purpose. Contribution matters, in service and after it.
Belonging. Community is built through shared experience, not shared circumstance alone.
Accountability. Real relationships continue well past the residential experience.
Continuity. Camp Aftermath is a long-term commitment, not a single event.
Camp Aftermath does not only consider what someone may need. It also recognizes what they still have to contribute. Structured volunteer service gives participants a way to contribute alongside others, not as therapy, but as a meaningful part of reconnecting with purpose and community.
